New adidas 2013/2014 Uniforms for Lyon

Lyon’s dynamic home jersey revives the iconic style worn during the 1950's

One of the most successful French clubs in the 21st century, including 7 consecutive League titles from 2002 to 2010, Olympique Lyonnais is a household name for any European soccer follower. Now, looking ahead of the 2013/14 season, adidas has launched three new tops that incorporate three key principles: modernity, elegance and innovation.

Lyon’s dynamic home jersey revives the iconic style worn during the 1950s with a V-shaped red and blue highlight across the front. The club’s logo appears at the center of the chest with a golden outline, matching the adidas logo now displaced to the top left. This striking new design will be worn next Sunday at the Stade Gerland, as OL will visit Ligue 1 leaders PSG.

Breaking the trend seen in previous seasons, there will be no crazy designs for Lyon’s away jersey. This time, the club goes back to the classic choice of red for its away kit, featuring a thick blue horizontal stripe across the chest, and thinner blue and white hoops down the front. The simple round collar and cuffs combine with the logos and Hyundai sponsorship to complete a classic look that should appeal to fans for an everyday look.

The third jersey will be mostly blue, following the color palette seen in the other two jerseys, featuring a red and white band across the chest. In this case, the logos and adidas three stripes will be made with a special fluorescent material for a “glow in the dark” finish, homage to Lyon, nicknamed “the City of Light”. You can expect this jersey to be used mainly during the dispute of the 2013/2014 UEFA Champions League.
